Tool #11 Reflection

Working on these tools taught me that technology can be used in every facet of my teaching and personal life. I know I will definatley use photostory for personal and educational purposes. As a new teacher I feel very fortunate to have had this opportunity. I can't wait to integrate these tools in my everyday classroom.

Tool #11

First and foremost I would teach my students the safety and responsibility that goes along with being a good digital citizen. This will include the comments and the products that they post, the places they visit, and whom they give their information to. I would stress to my student not to post anything that they wouldn't want me or their parents to see. I want my students to leave my classroom with a broader understanding of technology, how it works, and what it can do for them.

Tool #7

My first thought of this tool was that it was going to be difficult; however, its turned out to be one of the easiest and funniest tools to use thus far.

Tool #10

Some of the educational apps that I like are dictionary.com, shake and spell, math tappers, math tutor lite, and ecosystems. I personally do not have an itouch but my husband does. I find that they are very user friendly. I'm very excited to have these in my class room and can't wait to integrate them into the content areas that I teach. With all the educational apps available the students can practice an objective that they are struggling with, use during independent practice, and even to explore their interest.

Tool #9

Both Jing and Skype appear to be great ways for our students to share information. However, Jing was quite confussing to me. I watched the videos but may need a workshop to fully understand its capabilities. As for Skype I thinks its a great tool with limitless possibilites.

Tool #8

I was able to embed my two videos, they are at the bottom of my blog. I chose a video on the rock cycle and the 3 laws of motion. Video's are a great focus when beginning your lessons. This is a great and easy tool to use.

Tool #6

The use of wiki is endless. I could see my students writing a story and each student adding their own twist to the story line. Also, teacher could post "discussion point of the day" having the students post to the discussion through out the day. As for teachers we could have a "virtual" planning time. Lesson plans and unit ideas could be posted and fellow teammates can add their thoughts, experience, and creativity to the planning process.

Tool #5

I signed up for delicious. I found it easier to use than diigo; however, both sites are a great way to share resources.

Tool #4

This tool can be very beneficial when creating lesson plans, road maps etc... Making collaboration with fellow teammates a breeze. I love the fact that you can create a document once and keep it in one place. This tool will definitely be integrated into my language arts lessons.

Tool #3

This is a great tool!!! Image generators and mashups provide limitless opportunites for the student to use their own creativity. I hope my students have as much fun using this tool as I did!! :0)

Tool #2

1. What are your thoughts about building an online education community and participating in a PLN?

I think its a great way for teachers to collaborate and learn from one another as well as adopt effective ideas.

2. What point stood out to you from the commenting advice?

The point that stood out to me was commenting effectively. The younger society has a "texting" mindset that consist of one liners and shorthand writing. Teaching them how to blog and comment effectivley allows them to not only practice their writing skills but also practice putting complete meaningful thoughts together.

3. What five blogs did you select for your comments? Maureen Martinez, Doreen Ryan, Marie Casamayor, Martha Lopez, Merideth Kemper.

Tool #1

This is my first time experimenting with blogging and it appears to be a relatively easy thing to do. I can see my students blogging with other 5th grade students within the Springbranch district. I think it would be fun to collaborate with a teacher at a different campus and allow our students to blog with one another...
